Abra and Partners Donate a Vehicle to the Transition Projects Helping Local Veterans in Need
Abra Auto Body Repair of America, a leading national damaged vehicle repair company, along with the National Auto Body Council, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and GEICO donated a refurbished vehicle to Transition Project’s Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families (SSVF) during this year’s Rose Festival on May 26.
Transition Projects provides services to homeless and displaced veterans and their families, including short-term shelter, prevention services, legal assistance, income development, and assistance in accessing military and VA benefits. Their mission is to help veterans find affordable, safe and permanent housing in the Portland Area. The newly refurbished 2017 Toyota Yaris will help the SSVF team provide critical support to more than 1,500 Portland-area veterans each year.
These veterans rely on the 20 case managers at Transition Projects to help them get to housing appointments, medical appointments, and other meetings critical to their successful transition out of poverty or homelessness. By providing SSVF’s case managers with a reliable vehicle, they can change the lives of hundreds of deserving veterans each year. The vehicle was provided by GEICO, and repaired by Abra, with generous donations from our sponsors for parts and materials. This gift is a made possible through the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides™ program, a collaboration of auto body shops, insurers, parts suppliers and others in the collision industry to repair and donate vehicles to deserving families and community service organizations throughout the United States.
Abra is honored to support our Nation’s Heroes, because we are Abra Auto Body Repair of America.
